Public & Private School System
The East Gibson School Corporation
consists of Wood Memorial High School, Wood Memorial Junior High School and three kindergarten through sixth grade schools that are located in Oakland City, Mackey and Francisco. The corporation was organized Jan. 1, 1965. The total student enrollment is 1,042 for 2003-2004. Enrollment for each school is: Wood Memorial High School, 340; Junior High School, 161; Oakland City Elementary, 284; Barton Township School, 144; and Francisco Elementary, 113.
North Gibson School Corporation has an enrollment of 2,105 youths from Princeton, Patoka, Hazleton and the Mt. Olympus areas in Patoka, Washington and White River townships for the 2003-2004 school year. The school corporation employs approximately 200 persons, of which 133 are certified teachers and administrators. Enrollment by school for the 2003-2004 school year is: PCHS, 615; PCMS, 520; Brumfield Elementary, 497; and Lowell Elementary, 473. An additional 11 students were educated in other locations through the Gibson-Pike-Warrick Special Education Cooperative. In January, 1997, North Gibson implemented Alternative Solutions, an alternative program serving the educational needs of selected high school students in an alternative environment at YMCA Camp Carson as opposed to the traditional classroom setting.
The South Gibson School Corporation consists of Gibson Southern High School and three K-8 schools in Fort Branch, Haubstadt and Owensville. The central administrative office is located at 204 W. Vine St. in Fort Branch. Approximately 160 certified and non-certified people are employed by the corporation, a majority of whom have lifelong family ties to the area. Of the 114 teachers and administrators, 86% hold a master's degree or higher. South Gibson students consistently score above average on nationally normalized achievement tests. During the eight year history of the Four Star School Awards, presented annually by the Indiana Department of Education, Haubstadt Community School has been a recipient seven times, Fort Branch Community School twice and Gibson Southern High School six times. Eighty-six percent of the high school graduates enroll in college or postgraduate vocational programs. Enrollment for the 2003-2004 school year totals 1857 students - Gibson Southern, 632; Fort Branch Community, 472; Haubstadt Community, 298; and Owensville, 455.
Parochial Schools
Bethel Christian School has operated since 1981 at 1520 S. Main St. in Princeton. The school is a ministry of Bethel Memorial Church. Bethel Christian offers half-day and all-day pre kindergarten through the eighth grade. 124 students are enrolled for the 2003-2004 school year. Athletics offered are girls volleyball, cheer leading and boys' basketball.
Holy Cross School is a Catholic school located in Fort Branch at 202 S. Church St. Holy Cross offers classes for kindergarten through fifth grades and pre-kindergarten classes available, in which a total of 102 students are enrolled for 2003-2004. The school also offers all day day-care.
St. James Catholic School is located in the country, just south of Haubstadt. The school offers a fully-accredited program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition to its academic opportunities, St. James School is also dedicated to nurturing strong faith development. Enrollment for the 2003-2004 school year is 148 students. Extracurricular activities include: Student Council, speech team and participation in the spelling bee and geography bee. The athletic program includes girls' volleyball, basketball and cheer leading and boys' basketball.
St. Joseph Catholic School is a fully-accredited Catholic school. The school offers all-day kindergarten through fifth grade classes, as well as preschool classes. Extended care is also offered. Enrollment for 2003-2004 is 161.
Sts. Peter and Paul School has an enrollment for 2003-2004 of 185 students in grades kindergarten through five. The fully-accredited school also has a day care known as Kinder Haus. The school received recognition as an Indiana Blue Ribbon School.
Oasis Christian offers Kindergarten classes.
Vocational and Technical Colleges

Ivy Tech / Community College of Indiana (Evansville & Vincennes)
Ivy Tech/Community College of Indiana is a two year vocational technical school and is a part of the Indiana Vocational Technical College system. After completing the two year curriculum at Ivy Tech, students in many areas can transfer to the University of Southern Indiana to complete their baccalaureate degrees.

Universities
Oakland City University
Previously known as Oakland City College, Oakland City University is a four-year liberal arts institution, now in its 112th year. OCU's goal is to educate in a Christian atmosphere. The institution was founded by the General Association of General Baptists. The curriculum has changed to meet the needs of the people whom it serves. The University is accredited by the Commission of Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It is approved for teacher-training by the Indiana State Board of Education, the National Council of Accreditation of Teachers Education (NCATE) and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Enrollments for the past three years have exceeded 1,000 students and have increased in each of the last five years. OCU students are enrolled in programs on the main campus (liberal arts and technical studies), at the Bedford Center, in alternative programs offered at eight sites throughout the state and at the Branchville Training Center. Course offerings now include over 40 bachelor's and two master's degree programs. The Master of Divinity and Master of Science in Management degrees are among the offerings of OCU. Adult degrees in Business Management may be earned by attending classes one night per week. The cost of attending OCU remains among the lowest of private colleges in Indiana and the Midwest. Vincennes University
Vincennes University is a residential, comprehensive community college located in Southern Indiana. The school offers Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, and Associate in Applied Science degrees. The University's programs of study are divided into two basic categories: academic transfer and occupational education. These programs of study are offered through eight instructional divisions.
University of Evansville (U. of E.-Evansville)
The University of Evansville serves the area from its Evansville campus. It is an independent university which has a student population of 2,588. It draws from over 41 states and 48 nations and also operates a campus in Harlaxton, England.
